Measurement Tips for Plus Size Patterns

Measure over well-fitting undergarments. The bra you wear most often is the one your garments need to fit over.
Use a flexible tape measure. Pull snug but not tight. You should be able to slide a finger under the tape.
Measure your full bust at the widest point, not where the tape sits naturally. For D+ cups, also measure the high bust (above the bust) to determine the difference.
Measure your natural waist — the narrowest point of your torso, usually 1–2 inches above the navel. Bend sideways to find the crease.
Full hip measurement at the widest point, usually 7–9 inches below the natural waist. Include the fullest part of your backside.
